Bible Storying

Our purpose:
- God's Word in every heart
- Every life changed
- Every believer bearing fruit
Conditions necessary for this to occur:
- They must understand it
- It must impact them
- They must be able to remember it
- They must be able to pass it on to others
We have reduced our set of "principles" from the standard CBS principles for a couple of reasons. The initial resistance to CBS among our Latin American thought leaders due to their misunderstanding that CBS is only for the "uneducated" has led us to reduce our emphasis on an exclusively CBS model. Our present set of four principles is easier to remember than the long list. These principles function equally well for CBS, preaching using a storying model, topical and chronological discipleship sets and other media that would transmit God's Word.
Our Bible Storying Principles
- It is Biblical: Bible stories are told in such a manner as to be faithful to the biblical telling. Consideration is made of the best way of presenting key terms clearly. Biblical background is considered. We do not add "chili" to the stories.
- It is Intelligible: The biblical narrative is presented in a language that is completely intelligible to our hearers on the first hearing.
- It is Portable, Memorable and Reproducible: One of our primary principles is that our hearers be able to tell others the story faithful to the biblical narrative.
- It is Integral (unbroken): The absolute integrity of the story is preserved by presenting it without breaking the narrative thread with exposition.
